ACTOR EXPECTATIONS:

Scene Study Days (Friday + Saturday)

• 16-18 selected actors are paired and assigned scenes chosen by Ivana Chubbuck based on actors’
  characteristics to highlight their individual strengths.
• Day 1 : Actors perform their initial interpretation. Ivana provides tailored feedback to refine character,
  emotion, and delivery.
• Day 2 : Actors revisit scenes, applying Ivana’s notes to demonstrate growth and adaptability.

• Navigate to the resources page and read the handouts “10 Pieces of Advice” and “The 12 Steps”
• It is imperative that you read the first 12 chapters of Ivana’s book, The Power of the Actor, and use these
  tools in doing your analysis of your scene. If you need assistance in obtaining the books, please let me
  know.
• Also, you need to watch the whole movie, or read the whole script (or watch several episodes of the
  series) so you will know all the particulars about the character, and how that character’s path fits into the
  plot/theme of the script. You are to rehearse at least 8 hours on the scene with your partner, and come
  prepared to do performance level work (with props, blocking, etc).
• We will have some props available: bed, couch, chairs, but you need to bring as many props as possible!
  Examples: Clothes, bags, pictures in frames, bedding, laundry to do, food to eat in scene,
  you need DOINGS and they need to be personal to you! Do not show up with an empty stage.
• In this way, Ivana can take you to the next levels of your work, not repeat what you already know. YOU
  MUST REHEARSE IN PERSON at least one long rehearsal before you put it up for me. But some of the
  rehearsals can be done via zoom or facetime. Rehearsals are important in making serious growth in your
  abilities, make the most of this workshop!
• Also, many exercises she will be giving you depend on writing. Please make sure you bring a pad of paper
  (with many pages) and a pen.*
• Don’t make any plans for the evening of your first day and first work, as you will be taking the notes that
  Ivana gives you from your scene, as well as the notes from the other scenes, and apply them in rehearsal
  that evening. Expect to spend at least 2-3 hours after class of the first day to rehearse dilige
